Quick Pickles

These quick Holland House White Cooking Wine and Holland House White Vinegar pickled vegetables highlight the bounty of summer combing honey, mustard seed, and fresh dill.  Serve with our Holland House Summer Time Fried Chicken for the perfect picnic or weekday dinner.


2 English cucumbers, sliced thin
1 red onion, sliced thin
2 cups mini sweet bell peppers, sliced thin
2 cups carrots, thinly sliced

1/4 cup fresh dill sprigs
1/4 cup mustard seed
1 Tbsp. red chili flakes
4 bay leaves
6 garlic clove
1 cup HOLLAND HOUSE White Cooking Wine
1 cup HOLLAND HOUSE White Vinegar
2 Tbsp. granulated sugar
1-2 Tbsp. kosher salt


Combine cucumbers, red onion, sweet peppers, carrots and dill with a pinch of salt in a bowl.

Combine the rest of ingredients in a small sauce pot and bring to simmer.

Using a strainer, pour pickling liquid over the vegetable mixture.

Allow to cool to room temperature and refrigerate. The longer they sit the better!

  • Leftover sliced fried chicken and pickles make a great mid-day snack sandwich with your favorite bread and mayo.
