2. Q: How do I determine the quality of the Balsamic Vinegar?

A: The Italian Balsamic Vinegar Consortium developed and introduced a new grading system to assist consumers in distinguishing different Balsamic Vinegar quality. Four categories have been established.

  • One leaf (basic quality, lowest price)
  • Two leaves
  • Three leaves

  • Four leaves (highest quality, highest price)

A:  Barengo Balsamic Vinegar is made from the finest Trebbiano grapes from Modena and is imported to the United States.  Barengo Balsamic Vinegar is two leaf certified offering consumers a distinctive flavor that will entice the at home culinary artist.

5. Q: Do I need to refrigerate the products after opening?

A: For optimal flavor and shelf life, refrigerate after opening.

7. Q: What is the shelf life of Barengo products?

A: Barengo Red Wine Vinegar has a shelf life of 18 months. Barengo Balsamic Vinegar has a two-year shelf life.

8. Q: Does Barengo Balsamic Vinegar contain lead?
A: Under Proposition 65, retailers are required to give consumers a warning on products that may contain chemicals such as lead, but does not necessarily mean that products actually contain such chemicals.  While trace amounts of lead may naturally occur in certain vinegars such as Red Wine Vinegar & Balsamic Vinegar, Mizkan brands did NOT show lead content relative to the California Proposition 65 standards.  We test our products annually with an outside accredited laboratory and will continue to do so.
